Small Places Big Imaginations

I wrote the following hiaku as a result of all the unecessary "drama" that hangs in the Kosovar air like the smoke from the KECs. So many rumors and misconceptions. Somewhere out there lies the truth. Camp Film City is the size of a postage stamp so it is ripe for such banality.

Pearls of Self Wisdom

During a brief moment of providing some advice to a fellow officer the following nuggets of knowledge spewed forth from the gapping hole in the front of my head:

Commanders...

1.) Underwrite the mistakes of our subordinates. As long as they are not criminal in nature or constitute a significant disciplinary infraction.
2.) Professionally develop our subordinates.
3.) Assume mitigated risk.
4.) Take the reasonable man's approach.
5.) Apply the art of their understanding to ill defined problems.

I don't know where it came from. Perhaps an epiphany? Regardless, I believe it does summarize in broad aspects with the challenges I face everyday. I just hope I can live up to my own lecture.
